Image Problems

Can anyone help?

 

I've been uploading my product images using ftp and putting them into the catalog/images directory then I import the new products into the database using easypopulate. Until recently the product images showed up immediately, no problem. For some reason this is no longer working, and I have to manually upload the images through the osCommerce admin panel. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?
