Multi-lingual and Google

I am looking at OsCommerce to replace my current website which is a CMS system, but has no eCommerce functionality.

 

One of the great features I see in OsCommerce is the Multi-lingual functions. I have seem some stores where I can browse a product in English then click the German flag and that same page is now in German. It does not redirect to sub-folder :P

 

 

One of the problems I have experienced in the past with google and multi-lingual is that google only indexes the site in the default language and never finds the translated versions. How

 

How does Google index multi-lingual OsCommerce sites? Does google easily list and index all your products in each of the languages you have and if you search for "german sites only" do your stores and products appear?
