bgrcmodels Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Hello, I have a problem with my store. When a customer registers or signs up, an e-mail is sent to them welcoming them to the store. Customers with AOL e-mail address do not receive these e-mails and the main is returned back to me. The automatic e-mail system will send e-mails to all other e-mail servers fine, it just seems to be AOL. I have an AOL e-mail address of my own so i use this as a test e-mail address. I can confirm that if i open my e-mails for my store in Outlook Express form which account the store e-mails are sent from, if i open the e-mail that was returned to me, that was to go to an AOL e-mail Address, if i copy it and send it myself personaly, so manualy type in the e-mail address in create a new e-mail and send it, it will send fine. There seems to be a problem with the store sending e-mails to AOL Address, Does anyone know of a fix or why this would be doing it. Any help would be very greatfull. Many Thanks Ben

jdvb Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 you might just be on some spam list... perhaps tomorow or next week you can receive it on AOL adresses too. perhaps you are sending spam (perhaps without knowing so even). even oscommerce had a bug in the contact_us.php that allowed to send bulk loads of spam by anyone able enough to use the vulnerability.

I dont think it is sending spam otherwise i would have all the AOL returned e-mails back to my e-mail address. I have attached below in the CODE box, the e-mail that i get if the e-mail is returnt and unable to send: This message was created automatically by mail delivery software. bgrcmodels Posted December 8, 2006 Author Posted December 8, 2006 OK I have fixed my problem. to cut a long story short, the problem lies within AOL themselves. To enable your store to send e-mails to AOL Memebers using an AOL e-mail address you need to be set up on a Hosting Server that is AOL Whitelisted. What is Whitelisted: AOL bloks e-mails beings sent from places's like online stores as it seems them as SAPM or bot mail. To eliminate this, you have to register your stores IP address with AOL's whitelist. This whitelist will then remove the block from your account and let you send e-mails. I have been in contact with AOL, here oSC and my Host to sort this problem out. Here is a report from my hosts Tech Help: "" Dear Ben, This is an ongoing problem with AOL, and we are in constant negotiations with them regarding these issues. They constantly change the boundaries of receiving email from outside of their own networks i.e. from email addresses not related to AOL Their technical support is not existent and it is a battle we and hundreds of other companies world wide are fighting at the moment. The only thing we can suggest at the moment is to move your site to a server that is already whitelisted. Please make sure that you have full backups of your site and database and then let us know when you are ready for us to move the site. Regards The Support Team "" I hope that this claifys a few things for those people who are having problems sending e-mails to AOL e-mail address from there online store: If you have any questions please e-mail me. Thanks BEN
