Reduce create account fields

Hi,

 

My osCommerce install doesn't need a shipping option, so I'm not interested in addresses etc.

 

All I want new users to fill in when they register is: name (first name and surname), telephone and email. So only 4 fields.

 

I know how to edit the html part in create-account.php, but how do I disable the verification for all nonrequired fields?

 

How do I tackle this somewhat minot though disturbing problem?
