When adding products to the catalog the images in the thumbnails are out of proportion, when clicked to enlarge the picture they then display fine.

Can anyone help with how to fix this.

Ian,

Image size adjustments for your thumbnails are here:

yourstore.com/catalog/admin > Configuration > Images

If your large image is:

400x400, your thumbnail size could be 150x150 or 125x125 or 100x100.

400x300, your thumbnail size could be 150x113 or 125x94, 100x75.

It's the proportion that's important here. If the size of your large image is odd and makes for ugly math, open it in any image editor. Choose Edit>Image Size and play around. The first dimension will be width. Overtype this width with your chosen desired thumbnail width. The height dimension should automatically change to keep the image in proportion.

I hope this helps :)

It's all just ones and zeros....

just leave one size blank (width or hidth), and set calculate image size to true.

it will then automaticaly calculate either height or width.

Do mind that either one of the images sizes must be blank in order for that to work.

I tried all the above suggestions. Buy a photo editing package and resize your images prior to upload. That's all I could do to solve the issue, particularly if you have "vertical" and "horizontal" images.
