ptouch Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 using my website administration for my host on ipowerweb.com i installed my store in to /store2/catalog i'd like to change it to /store i can't just change the name and move the contents, cuz it messes everything up is there a way i can do this?
jpweber Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Yes, and it's recommended you move your site to the root. I'd move it to http://www.yourstore.com/, personally, and forget the store2, store, and catalog folders. Simply move all the files to the root and alter your includes/configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php files. SeanB Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 What about renaming my Admin directory, what's involved with that? I figure the only way someone can get into my site is to guess my htaccess password, but if they have to hunt for my /admin direcotry first, that'l slow them down. My website's address is in My Profile, since it's not allowed to be in my signature.
jpweber Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 You're exactly right, Sean, which is why I renamed my admin directory. All hackers know when they see an OSC site that they can just do /admin and get to the admin. Rename it to what you want, and simple alter your admin/includes/configure.php file, and that's all there is to it. Simple. Good idea, and it'll only take 30 seconds. Good luck.
