admin pages showing critical error on shop front

hi all

 

had problem with the installation so installed the register globals contribution to get around it

 

now the admin pages load fine.

 

however the shop pages don't ... i get

and also get this when trying to click on "online catalog" on the admin pages

Error 404

/shop1/admin/HTTP_CATALOG_SERVERDIR_WS_CATALOG

can anyone help me resolve this please
