liareilly Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 I have very little experience (actually none) with any of this web stuff (I just know a little html that helped with my previous site). I *think* installed oscommerce to my site using a tutorial. I have a template that I want to customize, but I figured I'd see if I could get on the web as is first before spending a bunch of time editing it. That didn't seem to work so well, the site looks nothing like the screenshot of the template. Not sure what I did wrong. I guess I'm pretty lost with the whole thing. And then when it comes to editing the template, I have the photoshop files that I can edit (I'm pretty good with photoshop), but I have no idea how to make it work with the site. Also, I can't seem to access www.liareillycouture.com/admin here's a little look at my issues: -what the template is supposed to look like -an idea of what I might like to customize it to look like -what it actually looks like right now I've been pretty good in the past about figuring new things out. All the html I know is from reading tutorials on the web, and I can do a bit of visual basic programming as well, but this has got me stumped.
♥Vger Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Okay, this looks like a Template Monster template - and they come as a complete set of files which you need to install. Be aware that the file set they use is out of date and by using them you will be overwriting the latest version of osCommerce with outdated files which still have bugs and security exploits. Vger
Hurley6x Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 1.you need to login via ftp to your site and delelte the install directory 2. you need to chmod your configure.php file these are things that should be adressed prior to installing templates. See the installation tut regaurding the chmod
liareilly Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 I've worked it out a bit, seems like my ftp program had a little spaz while uploading, so not everything was uploaded. Here it is now: www.liareillycouture.com
