not2serious Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Hey guys, I'm trying to install osCommerce at the moment but during the FTP session these files failed to upload : catalog\admin\images\graphs\.cvsignore catalog\admin\includes\local\.cvsignore catalog\admin\.htaccess catalog\download\.htaccess catalog\includes\local\.cvsignore catalog\includes\.htaccess catalog\pub\.htaccess catalog\.htaccess This is being run on a windows server that has php 4.3.4 installed. Is this just a permissions problem that i should contact my host about? When i go to the site and load up catalog\index.php the installation window is available but i don't want to continue because i'm sure those files are of some importance. Thanks for any advice.
Jack_mcs Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Some hosts restrict the upload of those files. You can sometimes get around that by changing the name, uploading it and changing the name back once it is on the server, but that would depend on how your host has that set up. It may also work if you use a shell to upload the files or possibly your hosts control panel. The best solution would be to contact your host and ask how to upload them. Jack The guy who owns the server says this : you have to delete all the ".something" files before uploading as they are not compatable with windows I'm just going to read through all the documentation instead. Thanks for the help. I guess i'll be back no doubt :)
Jack_mcs Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Files that start with a dot are hidden files. Anyone that has ever uploaded a site using FrontPage will find many of those types of files. So, in short, your host is mistaken.
