HeyU Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 I've observed that there are many useful contributions that can be added to an Oscommerce site to make it even more flexible and user friendly. Rather than just completing the basic installation and then manually adding each selected contribution, can you include such contributions in the inital installation by simply placing the relevant files in their correct location, uploading all files via ftp to the server, and then proceed with the installation process?
Nick Weisser Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Most contributions have the same folder structure as osCommerce and the ammended files in place, so you can simply copy them over a clean osCommerce file tree. When you add more than 1 contribution it might be that those changes are overwritten by the latest contribution added. To avoid this you can either use a diff tool such as WinMerge to compare files and merge them manually or you can have a look at the very promising contribution installer and the many contributions that are compatible with it. With the contribution installer you can easily install contributions without overwriting anything anywhere and without any knowledge of PHP and MySQL.
