No Shipping Charge on Selected Items

My shop offers club memberships where no shipping or tax is charged, yet I also offer gemstones where shipping is charged.

 

Any suggestions how to accomplish this?

It depends on which shipping module you are using. Some one previously suggested using the weight field to store the shipping charge for each product. Although I don't remember a contribution arising from that.

No. Simply the shop offers a membership to the Mineral of the Month Club as a shop item that is sold with no shipping. The problem is the shop also sells gemstones that ship to the customer and shipping IS charged.

You could set the weight of the free thing to 0 and then use my free shipping module.

 

If weight is 0 then free shipping. If weight is > 0 normal shipping and when 0 is added to other weights this should not add anything to shipping for the free item.

 

I have several versions of this running around on the contributions section. I think I also have the most recent one there.

 

If not, I have it on my Free Call for Price shop under the Download It category.

I'll take a whack at it. Wouldn't it seem prudent that when adding a product one could toggle 'free shipping'?
