Hi All,

This will seem like a really stupid question to most of you, but am having a complete brain failure.

I have been playing with oscommerse and happily using the BlueFTP manager to change php files, images, etc. Am now at the state of uploading a new template (which I have) and have got to do it using the browser. My problem is, I just can't find where it is. I've seen it used on lots of the BV video tutorials but for some reason I have a complete block on this one. I tried loading the template with the ftp manager, but that way doesn't work.

Completely stuck so your help would be brilliant.

Thanks,

Rob

All it is, is I'm trying to load a new osc template and know it is done using the browser rather than the FTP manager. I just can't work out how to find/open the browser to start with. I need to put in fttp://siteName/install/ but cant get to where it goes ??

I think I'm probably being pretty stupid,

Ok. If you are installing direct to your root directory, i.e you uploaded the contents of the osC catalog directory, type your domain address into a browser plus /install/

If you uploaded the catalog directory to your root, type your address plus /catalog/install/

So, either:

without the asterisks.

Still having problems.

Would anybody out there be able to load the template to my site for me.

Thanks in advance,

I think I understand your issue now. You use FTP to upload to your site, either by an FTP Client or, as I think you are trying to do, with a browser.

For either method you need the FTP address, which you should be able to find in your control panel. If you cant find it or your username/password, just ask your host. In the browser the address will be something like:

*ftp://your_domain.com or you may need to use *ftp://your_username@your_host.com (no asterisks though)

Notice with the above, the address is ftp:// not fttp:// as you posted here. Also, you dont use /install/ with FTP, you do that with the *http://www.your_domain.com/install/ address after you have uploaded.

Once you have connected, you should be one level up from the root. Your document root will be named public_html, www, httpdocs or something on those lines, that is where your files are served from.

Believe me, the best way to connect is through an FTP Client, not a browser.

Hi,

Have changed name of the osc file to shop. then using FTP_Manager moved it to the public_html side.

Now I next typed in http://www.saulsaddlery.com/store/shop/install/ and just get p"page not for nd error message.

www.saulsaddlery.com/store is where osc is loaded.

Thanks for the help so far, I feel I may just be missing something at the end !
