keny Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Hello, I am just getting started installing oscommerce, and when I installed the app, I enabled ssl, but I have yet to get my certificate and i am wondering if there is a way to get the store running without the ssl functionality for temporary's sake while I tweak the store's other features. I dread reinstalling it just for that so I am trying to figure out if there is a place I can go and just turn that feature off for a few days until i get my certificate. Thanks for any help! Keny

Keny includes/configure.php define('ENABLE_SSL', true); // secure webserver for checkout procedure? Change it to false The same for the admin file Regards Mark A Reynolds
keny Posted November 30, 2006 Author Posted November 30, 2006 includes/configure.php define('ENABLE_SSL', true); // secure webserver for checkout procedure? Change it to false The same for the admin file awesome quick response. i assume wen you say the admin file you mean: /catalog/admin/includes/configure.php well im gonna try it and see how it goes... Best to ya, i'm sure i'll be back when I get to the "digital downloads through paypal" thing. I will be getting an internet merchant account in the next month or so, but I want to tweak the site first through paypal. Any thoughts?
keny Posted November 30, 2006 Author Posted November 30, 2006 ok. my current dilemma: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,994 (i'm referencing the one dated 11 Apr 2006) I am totally stuck on this download manager contribution. i don't know a: if I need it or b: i tried to install it anyways but there is this random file called downloads_controller.sql and i have no idea what to do with it. I assume you replace all the other files. (are there directions for this thing or what?) ----- and to take a step back (whoa) and look at the whole thing for a second: i guess I could just reinstall the whole app if I screwed up. but after reading some forum articles, it appears that I need to install that module in order for instant downloads to work with paypal. - then I saw the article dates were back to 2004 and I am now wondering what i should do or if there is an up to date installation guide for my specific situaution, and that is: I am making a webstore that supports immediate purchases of online media like videos, mp3's, and pdf's. (all music related) the buyer needs to be able to make a payment and then get a link to download the file(s) they purchased. i feel like I am on the right track with oscommerce, but i also feel like Its been 6 years since I did any actual programming and I'm up against a pretty difficult task. I have plans to do regular credit cards but for the time being i want to pre-flight the program using paypal as the main payment method. in any case, if you might be able to give me insight on this, i'd be glad to hear what you had to say. now we're getting to the nitty gritty. I'm expecting to have to put some time into getting this thing off the ground, but as they say, no pain no gain. :D
