Few simple questions.

Hi, I'm using OsCommerce for the first time, I'm setting up a site for a friend, and have just a few questions.

 

1. On the front page, it has that description "Welcome guest, this is the default install of blah blah blah"

 

Where do I go to change that?

 

2. I want to get rid of the langauges box totally. I already deleted everything but english, but I don't even want that box around. Where would I go about that?

 

Same goes for reviews, currency, And possibly quickfind.

 

3. Say I want pictures for my sub catorogies, but not for my catogories. Is there anyway around the broken image picture showing up besides making a blank 1x1 image and using that?

 

4. EVERYTHING I put in is showing up in the "new products for november" box. How do I flush that out?

I understand why its there, everything is going in in november, haha.

 

5. Are there any sites with free themes? What attracted me to this was the php backend. I have a bit of experience using Mambo, and really liked the looks of this. Mambo has a ton of free themes sites out there. Are there any for OsCommerce?

For #1 - edit catalog/includes/languages/english/index.

 

For #2 - edit catalog/includes/column_right. Just comment out the line: include(DIR_WS_BOXES . 'languages.php');

3. Set images required to 0 in admin, or use pixel_trans.gif

4. Yeah, it is an automatic process. Or, you can amend the "product added" field.

5. Plenty, just have a look in the contribution forums on these boards, or search google. Your best option is probably something like STS (search the contrib forum), then you can create your own with ease.
