Paypal IPN and non-OSC payments (Pablo)

If I use my Paypal account for non OSCommerce transactions, I believe (though I admit I have not tried your IPN contribution yet) that if you sent me money for say an Ebay payment, this would also register in OSC with your IPN? What would occur in this case?

If this is a problem, have you considered using the Norify_Url option? This would allow me to keep IPN off, yet it would still work from OSC.

Let me know what would happen if someone sent me a payment, and it was NOT for an order entered in OSCommerce.

Not to speak for Pablo, but I use his IPN contri., and have processed around 30 or so transactions with it.

I have also received various payments through ebay using paypal, and none of them have shown up in or hampered OSC in any way.

As I have said before, I HIGHLY recommend this contrib if you want to use paypal.

NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit.

If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help.

Thanks for the answer Wiz, I couldn't tell off-hand what might happen. I would suspect it does at least add records to his transaction file.

I would suggest to Pablo though to implement the notify_url option of IPN. This would allow the user to not even turn on IPN. Or, the user might have 2 sites that use the same Paypal account, this could easily be done with notify_url the way I read it at least in the Paypal help.

You are right Steve

It should work with the notify_url parameter. Will make things easier I think.

Best regards
