The fixed width height is set perfectly.. which contribution did you use for that? Why are you using the manufacturers box as the centrepiece when you should use a categories box for navigation? It would look better that way. Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back! Why receive the information you require in good faith for free, only to then have the attitude to ignore the people who gave it to you? There's no harm in saying, 'Thanks, it worked'. On the contrary, it creates a better atmosphere. CHOOCH
rommany Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 I agree it is a nice layout but i think the header is a tad large at 25k as it took 10-15 seconds to load at first but it was fast after that. I would change the TOP to HOME in the nav bar, change the buttons as aleem recommended, lose the requests since bit as no one really care for this, change the Welcome Guest on the main page. Other than that its a great start and good luck.
Cesario Posted December 2, 2006 Author Posted December 2, 2006 Okay - thankyou for your comments :) (1) I'll see if the header can be compressed better without losing too much quality (2) Replace stock buttons (3) I'll move 'Information' box towards the top, instead of 'Manufacturers'. I'm not adding the categories box, at least not yet or until I think of another solution when I have more products. (4) 'Top' to 'Home'. I think the homepage needs work anyway. (5) I need a thumbnailer solution. Hmm. (6) Change Welcome Guest bit. I'm not sure what you mean by fixed width/height. The width is fixed and I think it was based on a contrib, which I then threw out the window and did my own based on it. So, possibly none ;) I also got rid of the double left/right information boxes, as with a fixed with you need more space, and it streamlines the design a bit I guess. Anything else anyone can think of?
