maindron1 Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Hi, I am trying to use a shopping cart for a website that Already have some 20,000 items. I figure that it will take me months to add them one by one. My question is: Is there a way that I can create a product database and import it to the oscommerce database and what will the structure of my database will be. second part: How do I generate the add to cart button to place next to each item? I don't know much about working with MySQL or PHPAdmin. Please help.
fantasynites Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 I am having the same problem, I have purchased a preloaded shop and have the data to upload, apparently according to some very vague instructions from my domain host you need to split the file using Easy Populate. This then creates a number of other files that are then uploaded to your site. Thats when i get kind of blinded by science to be honest. So if you finf out any additonal info or vica versa I would appreciate it.
shooter-boy Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 You need to install EasyPopulate. Some script installs from web hosts include this already, but not the download from osC. Install that and then you can just import via a tab-delimited file (instructions are in the contribution). Second questions: There is a contribution for this too. Just search on "Add to Cart" button in the contributions section. Rob Rob Bell - Inspired Graphix Customising osCommerce in Australia, and the world! View my profile for web and email links. If you only get vague instructions from your web host, have a look at the documentation that comes with the Easy Populate contribution. It should all become crystal clear then.
