Guest Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 I've just finished my first osC storefront for a client of mine and would welcome your feedback. The Store: GloryArt.net This store is live, so please - no test orders. I do want to express my gratitude to this forum for providing an excellent knowledge base and help system for those new to the osC coding.
ecopeia Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 I don't know how to do this, but there must be a way to keep your header from loading everytime someone changes pages. It's a little distracting. Good luck! My Contributions
chooch Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 I agree about the header. Also, the welcome button and it's link to your index.php is not relevant and should be removed as you have a 'home' link in your flash header. Your infobox corner left gif images need to be removed or replaced because they are not correct in your product info pages with the 'customers who bought this also bought' box. Nice colour contrast but the header could be a bit bigger as the header naviagtion buttons are bigger than normal. Good Luck. Upon receiving fixes and advice, too many people don't bother to post updates informing the forum of how it went. Until of course they need help again on other issues and they come running back! Why receive the information you require in good faith for free, only to then have the attitude to ignore the people who gave it to you? There's no harm in saying, 'Thanks, it worked'. On the contrary, it creates a better atmosphere. CHOOCH
Guest Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Thank you for the imput. Flash header: I'll work on it so that the full animation only loads the 1st time the file is loaded. - Great Point! Header: My client (this is my first osC install and customization) wanted a small graphic header and footer. They thought larger ones detracted too much from their products? They prefer the small ones. Buttons: The cart navigation under the header were intentionally oversized at their request as well. They had been on too many sites where they had to look long and hard to find out how to access their cart information. ** I will remove the link on the welcome image (in the button row) as you are right - it is redundant and unnecessary. Infobox left corner image: Changed! Glad someone caught it, I totally missed it.
ecopeia Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 I wonder if you will have to have 2 seperate header.php files. One to show up only on the default page, and another header.php file for all the other pages. I am pretty sure that would work, however, there may be a better solution here in the forums. I really like your site design, its clean and not too cluttered. Happy coding! My Contributions
Guest Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Thanks for the feedback and the design, Angela. I'm faily sure that I can accomplish the flash reload function for initial load / subsequent load parameters within the flash file. Not positive, but that's where I'll look first for a solution.
