I have signed up to my first oscommerce turnkey website, the only problem is this is not turnkey to me. I have no idea what i'm doing, i have basic computer skills but not nearly enough to get me throught this process. I have a basic idea of what i want my web site to look like but as soon as i take a direction, i am overwhelmed by all the information that is thrown at me.

Is there a tutorial available for complet beginners such as myself that could take me on a step by step tour.

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

I have been a programmer for a long time, but am new to OSC as well. I, too, am looking for a tutorial.

 

What I have found over the years is that I would get a tremendous amount of help from the newsgroups. Two, in particular, that I have used a lot in recent years are comp.lang.php and alt.comp.lang.php. It seems that just about every thread had responses.

 

When I cam onto this forum, I first looked at the timestamps for the activity. I thought there would be a similar situation to the newsgroups. Over the past few days that I have been here I have found that there appear to be about four times as many unanswered threads than threads with followups. It is a pity that people who are knowledgeable can't take the time to help out newbies. (Thanks Jack for YOUR response to my question if you should happen to read this. There ARE exceptions).

 

While my request to contribution ratio on newsgroups is about 3 to 1, here it has been about 1 to 3. Good luck in having someone respond as I am also looking for an answer here. In the meantime I will have to do it the hard way by digging into the installed php code and perusing the mysql database tables.
