nfuids Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Hi, Here is my situation: we sell t-shirt that are printed by us. So we have many pre-made design (logos, funny text, etc) that we can print. We have a few t-shirt model (men, women, etc) and different colors and sizes. Can I use OS Commerce to do the following: advertise the design as if they were product. and when someone select a design, he must then select his model, size, color. I also need to keep track of the inventory of all the tshirt/model/color/size combination so I can re-order more when stock goes low. I tried with QT Pro plugin .. which looked fine until I realize it wouldn't let me manage overall inventory. Thanks for any tips!

natewlew Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 That store has nothing to do with your situation. The Master Products could be used on your store. DailyLunatic Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 That store has nothing to do with your situation. The Master Products could be used on your store. I have an identical product and want to do the exact same thing as the original poster. Unfortunatly, I can not make heads or tails from the description on the "Master Products" link, and the example you gave on your site appears to be for 6 different items rather than a single item with several options (the only options I saw was for qty). 1) Can someone please translate the description in "Master Products" and put it into everyday language? Alternately, does anyone have other links to use of "Master Products" so I can get a clearer idea of its use? 2) Assuming that "Master Products" will work for what I would like to do, can you let me know how it would handle these situations: a) Completed T-Shirt (Master Product?) is made from Design 1 and a blank T (slaves?). T's come in Red, Blue, & Green, and sizes S, M, L, XL, & XXL. Would this be 15 options in one range, or two ranges of 3 & 5? B) Assuming there are qty 12 of Design 1, qty 5 of large green T's, and qty 20 of small red T's. Will OSC limit qty available to the lesser qtys. For instance, will the buyer be limited to a maximum of 5 large green shirts of design 1, or to 12 of small reds? Neither Design 1 or any of the T's will be offered for purchase separately. c) XXL shirts will cost $2 more than the other sizes. Can this module handle different prices for different options? Sorry for all the questions, but like I said, I am having problems understanding what the Master Products module does. Sterling Sterling (a.k.a. DailyLunatic) Useful Threads: Basics for Design. natewlew Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Maybe this is a better url: http://www.google-store.com/product_info.php?products_id=105 First you setup a product as master. Then you can assign slave products that show up on the product page of the master. You can also assign attributes to each slave like different prices or anything you can imagine. You will just have to install Master Products to get a hang of it. It should be installed by default. It is a great contribution! Any idea how to install this? I'm looking at the installation.txt file and find 'NO' instructions on how to install this module. Just a line that reads "Run the master.sql file on your database"... ok... HOW!!! I mean, if I knew how to install the file I would not have been looking in the installation.txt file to begin with. Help! Sorry, venting. Really ticked at the documentation level of OSC and its modules. Sterling (a.k.a. DailyLunatic) Useful Threads: Basics for Design.
