Adding Multiple Items to a New osC Store

Hi to everyone,

I am thinking of switching to osCommerce for my online store.

Currently I have approximately 3000 products in stock which I would need to import or add to this osCommerce store.

Can anyone tell me if this is possible to do in bulk?

I have read up a little in advance that it is possible to import as CSV etc, but I wanted to clarify that my stock, which I have a stocklist of in CSV format, could be imported as one file into the database for this purpose.

What, if any, changes might be necessary?

I am not looking for an 'easy fix' I would just like to prepare for whatever work might be neccessary. Any help would be much appreciated. :D

You can't with OSC just import a csv file, you can work a easypopulate contribe in and adjust your csv to that format but I've never had experiance of doing 3000 that way.

I have imported 2500 infact I export and import that amount almost weekly but I use another bit of software for that.

I installed the easy populate contribution on two of my sites and I was able to upload 2000 products in a matter of minutes, once I got my csv files in order. The most painful thing for me was uploading all the images.

When you have a large file, say over 300 items, you can choose to split the file. You click to upload the monster file, then easy populate splits it into smaller sections and sticks them in the temp file that you create as part of the easy populate installation process. Then you upload them from there.

Thanks for the replies. The EasyPoluate contri looks like it will work well....

With respect to the product descriptions, How would I go about any sort of format and layout that is not just plain text in the CSV file?

I would be looking to add some more graphical layout and possibly screenshots, would this be possible and if so How would I go about it?

As I said previously, I have not used OSC before and want to arm myself with as much info as possible before hand.

Many thanks in advance for any assistance....
