importing data in phpmyadmin

Going crazy trying to change manufacture table in phpmyadmin. Read post in tricks and tips for exporting and inporting by thewrath1. Exported data to excel added one line to see if it works ok before making major changes. What am I doing wrong ? Go to phpmyadmin click on table(manufactures) click on browse tab, click the inport tab, enter file name, click replace file data with file , and change the field terminator tom a comma. Then I get "Error invalid parmeterfor csv inport:lines terminated by ". I'm a newbie trying to get this changed before tying to import about a 1000 products.

Is it a Comma seperated file or a Charactor seperated file ? open it in a text editor and see what you find. IF you don't see commas choose tabs on the import. Or have you put a full stop on the end of each line ? Hard to sa with seeing the error and data.

 

Personally I hate MsExcel much prefer open office but don't need either for OSC as I use a OSC manager and that allows me to edit the table direct, export and import etc.
