Error: Catalog images directory does not exist: /catalog/images/

I can see this folder when I ftp but the error is coming up as,

 

Error: Catalog images directory does not exist: /catalog/images/

 

and no images are installing.

Have you set the right permissions so that the images file is writeable ? (775 or 777)
