This way things will be neater and more organized on the server and file server. Wipe_out
Your suggestion for managing the pictures is one that we used in our site except we grouped the pictures by manufacturer... If it was going to be inculded in the final version it would have to be able to group by category or manufacturer or a combination of the 2..so it may be a little difficult to impliment.. BadDude
Ohh what I need very much, that is to switch to show only active items in the admin area's list. I have really lot of items in my categories, and there are a lot, which are offen inactive. Sometimes it is soo boring to scroll down everytime, and find the active products. I made a small link and a little hack ind the categories.php to show only the active ones, but it means one more clicks. In the Settings part that would be great to have a switch, I can choose to show only active or inacive ones. <% BD %>
interfaSys
We have to be very carefull with contributions. I'm against having all this installed in the main osC distribution. The reason is we'll end up with a bloated piece of software. The only way would be to have some kind of on/off mechanism which is not possible to have with every contrib. Every group of customers has specific needs that we have to address. Having to remove manually 10 useless contributions would be a big waste of time. interfaSys
I thought I could edit my post.... I just want to clarify something. I'm all for including a contribution folder with all the contributions that meet the standard (many don't). but not for an integration. mattice
I agree with Weirdlab. Contributions are what they are, contributions. If they are that good of code and functionality they will end up in the main distro (like Ians credit class) but the idea is you extend your own software by adding stuff YOU need. Ideally that process would be automated, something I can only see happening when we have an official release of 2.2 Mattice "Politics is the art of preventing people from taking part in affairs which properly concern them"
Guest
Well, I disagree. They should all be included as they take up very little space. We are hardly talking about a 30meg file here ;) - nothing bloated at all by adding those mods...
mattice
I didn't make my point clear I guess... I think contributions that meet the standard should be in the package in their own CONTRIBUTIONS subdir but not PRE-INSTALLED in the package. But you will have the problem of backward compatibility. Older snapshots need older versions of contribs... therefor the contribution section should remain. You should only be able to delete obsolete contributions. interfaSys
Tim, I'm talking un-necessary DB calls, fields shown, loaded functions, etc. that have to be parsed everytime you call a page. I'm running an internal website with many addons loaded and it shows on performance (slowing mainly the default.php). I want optimization for my customers =) Olivier interfaSys s?rl ----------------------- You'll love to use our solutions! Guest
Very true. I just thought it may help many newbies who want to install the mods but are too confused or scared to do so. Ideal is: Mods in separate folder as mattice suggests with the final package. Heaven Ideal: Plug-in and go mods that require little work to integrate ;)
