strange problems with subcategories

Hi all,

 

I'm running 2.2 with SPPC and EasyPopulate...Some of my subcategories (well, actually I've only found one so far) don't show their subcategory, just "There are no products in this cateogory".

 

As an example, check out:

where in the left bar you can see the subcategories, but in the main page there is nothing... I want to disallow the expanding of sucateogies in the left box (which I've already sussed out) as the names of the categories are quite long!

 

So any idea why the subcategories wouldn't be showing up in the main window?

hmm..still haven't solved this one.. I found the contribution called "Show Subcategories when Category has Products", but this seems to be for an older version of oscommerce as I don't have a default.php in my catalog folder.. There don't seem to be any products in the category yet still it won't work.

 

Any hints?
