Formating row in product listings

Hi,

 

I done a search through the forum for this before i post.

 

I m trying to tweak the way the rows are listed in the product_listing.php. In few word i m trying to do the same thing like in the admin area where each row is coming with a different color out of the 2. for example 1st row = white, 2nd = Light grey, 3rd = white, 4th = L grey. etc. And the second thing i m trying to get around is to have a seperator line between each row.

 

So far a banging my head on the desk and cannot figure out where to add the code and how to do it. Because I see it's sending an array to boxtable class and it's a bit complicated where to add the code :(

 

Any help would be appreciated or point me to an older post or thread about this..
