Couple quick questions about net/gross and main page

Hey there everyone!

Im fairly new to this stuff im starting my own business online or working on it anyways hehe, its been bumpy road getting my server to host these programs like os commerce, phpbb forums cause ive never used mysql stuff but anyways i have basic html knowledge etc...

 

I was wondering when i enter a product price whats the effect on oscommerce between Gross and Net..

 

Another question is there any way to change the look of it like get rid of cheesy clip art?

 

One more thing its probably the dumbest question ever but how do i edit the main (home) page.

 

Hope you guys can help me im rather novice at this so please don't flame me :)

Hey Mike !

 

The gross and net prices come into play for the countries that pay tax and not. When you set up the store you configure your tax zones. The countries paying tax will have tax added on their bill whereas those that do not according to their address will not. When you enter your prices in your products oscommerce calculates according to the tax percentage that you programmed to get the gross/net price. You can set up a store to have prices shown by default with or without taxes and once the customer logs in the program determines by his address to show prices with or without tax. In my case, for example, the store being in Europe we have to show prices with VAT so I have the show tax on... so by default when a visitor arrives he sees everything with VAT added. Suppose a non-European customer logs-in. Once he has created his account and logs in the prices are shown automatically without VAT because he does not pay VAT.

For the home page edit go to catalog/includes/languages/yourlanguages/index.php.
