How to turn tax on

Hi,

 

I have got my new site all up and running now but i havent been able to get the tax working as of yet.

 

I have added new tax zones and changed the taxable item tax rate to 17.5% for UK.

 

When i create a product and enter the net price the gross price is automatically worked out correctly so ?10 would equal ?11.75.

 

When i go onto the site it displays items without tax. I thought it would just add the tax later when i checkout but i have now got to the stage where i wanted to go through the checkout process and it doesnt seem to add the tax on anywhere.

 

Anyone got any ideas on this.

 

Im away from the computer for the next 8 hour so please post any suggestions you can think off and i will look at them all on my return.

 

I have already searched the forums and found many individual cases to do with TAX problems but they are problems that have come along at a later date. My problem is a new install so i think ive just forgot to tick a box somewhere or change a setting to true for example, not really sure where to start looking

in cofiguration turn Display Prices with Tax to true

Display Prices with tax is set to true and still no joy

I have just done a new install locally as a test witht the standard osc files and i still cant get tax to display.

 

I have changed currency to UK GBP

 

I have also changed tax rate to 17.5% and added a tax zome called UK

 

Any Ideas
