Guest
I'm trying to find what users are looking for in the way of reports. Recently I produced a new user tracking report (see: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=23613), and am looking for new reports to contribute. It appears to me that reporting is still very underdeveloped for OSCommerce. So the question is, what reports do you want to see most? Please be as detailed as you can. Andrew Make sure that you have taken note of the tasks section where it says "Add statistics/reports to the Administration Tool as modules" Mark Evans osCommerce Monkey & Lead Guitarist for "Sparky + the Monkeys" (Album on sale in all good record shops) --------------------------------------- Software is like sex: It's better when it's free. wizardsandwars
One of the biggest things store owners are going to be interested in is deterrents. In other words, what was it was that made someone decide not to make a purchase. One way you could do this is report on which a non purchasing customer ended their track through the website. That way you could tell if people were reluctant to sign up for an acount, or if they didn't like the shipping cost, or If they didn't like the payment modules, or whatever. Also, I wouldn't mind knowing where someone came from. In the raw files of the webalizer, you can see if a person came to your site from another link on the internet, and what the query string was. This would be interesting to take a look at where people are comming from. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help. Guest
The user tracking script I developed does this "deterrant" analysis for you. http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=23613 Scroll down to see a graphic of the script in action. In the beta version I'm going to release this weekend you'll see a LOT more statistics than there are even in there now. Stay tuned! CC
Great stuff Andrew. Look forward to seeing this. Is it worthwhile waiting for the beta, rather then installing your current version? I will then feedback my response via the beta... Cheers CC.
webduck123
I have a customer interested in getting daily, weekly or monthly reports for a total sales tax. This will help the company in filing its quartlerly sales tax statements. Thanks for all the great work being done here.
♥claybaker
The folks at Intuit have spent a great deal of time and money figuring out the answer to this very question. Notice that in each new release they have additional reports and upgrades on the existing reports. I would recommend taking a hard look at the reports in QuickBooks, especially the Retail version and see if you can reproduce those for osC. Thanks in advance for your efforts. MontyMan
Here are the reports my supervisor has me run, which are not available in osCommerce: 1. Best Customers with company name added, between two specified dates. This is similar to the Best Customers report with specified date boundaries and with company name added. Currently running for current calendar year, but before this, she wanted it for quarter ended on a certain date or year ended on a certain date. 2. Sales followup report: Name, company name, and email addresses of everyone who has ordered between two specified dates. Normally reported for prior month. 3. Quotation followup report: Name, company name, and email addresses of everyone who has requested RFQ between two specified dates. Normally reported for prior month. Currently using phpMySQL and other resources for the above.
