Scorpion Cart Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Overall a very nice looking site. just a couple of things though :- The site takes an age to load Download Times 14.4K 454.28 seconds 28.8K 227.24 seconds 33.6K 194.81 seconds 56K 116.96 seconds ISDN 128K 35.96 seconds T1 1.44Mbps 3.30 seconds I have highlighted the 56k modem speed as this should load in around 8 seconds as people wont hang around and wait much longer than that for a page to load. The gif images for the category boxes are way too pixelated, maybe re-doing them as .jpg files would give better quality and be roughly the same size. hope this helps regards kev

tastar Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 The site looks great - and the rollovers at the top are perfect - really looks like neon. And, I like the way that you have done attributes, and the jukebox, etc. etc. Very creative, and really matches the look and feel of the business (unless it is a pizza shop with a take out counter and a lot of flies) - it really makes it seem like a cool place to go. A couple of problems - your thumbnails are distorted - you should get rid of one of the image dimensions in configuration, like 100 wide, 'blank' high, to get rid of the distortion. But, maybe all of your images should be square to begin with - so that when they are shrunk they will still look a uniform 100 x 100. Also, your images are pretty bad - you are selling food, and the photos should look appetizing. I wouldn't buy a bucket of wings that look like brown rocks. I know that it is hard to shoot food, but the site looks so good otherwise, that it should make a big difference. You should probably add a thumbnail contrib, too. Since your images are small, it probably won't make much difference right now. But, you really should make your images bigger and better. You are missing styles for a bunch of text - unless you are intentionally using a small size Times Roman font in a bunch of places. Like on the home page for 'we are open daily from...' and 'Welcome, please sign in', and the text on the location page, etc. Since you can't purchase from the site, you should make it very easy to create an account, or even purchase without an account, and if it is a pick-up order, maybe not even ask for address info. Great job, good luck. tony
cybercon Posted November 29, 2006 Author Posted November 29, 2006 Taster- I thank you for your comments, good and bad. The good made me fee amazing and the suggestions are all VERY valid. I am having actual pictures of the food taken, a majority of what you see now is off the web as temporary fill. The owners need to make each dish and then remember to actually photograph it. On distorted thumbnails, I did not know you could do height "blank" That makes life really easy, I never even tried it (duh), great suggestion. I am not sure I want to enlarge the pics at all. We have been back and forth on it. The idea of having everyone that places an order create an account is to insure that we do not get "prank orders". Thank you very much for the input. BTW we are getting orders from the site.
