Hey.

I just installed Oscommerce for freebsd via ports and installed the Easy Populate module (finally).

I administrate the box and have full access to it and mysql (via phpmyadmin)

http://www.magicshells.com/on-line/catalog/ <-- works fine. and i have manually added the catagories (before i installed EP).

Now i have a CSV file from my wholesaler. Can be found at: www.magicshells.com/csv.zip

I have been messing around with the variables and been trying to match stuff but after (the little) help i got from places even #oscommece on freenode.net im still having issues.

How do i upload my CSV to my easy populate so my store can have all its 2000+ items not only the current 30!!! I have tried even changing the |'s ing the CSV to "," (for sql reasosns) and even tried TABS. And i have added "EORRER" at the end of each line. So i sort of know whta im doin, but cannot work out what im doing wrong!

That csv.zip is how i get it from my dealer. So need the simplest way i can upload that to my os cart so i can update it weekley the same way!

Thanks for any help in advanced. I have been busting my brain till 7am nightly trying to work this stuff out. Finally have everything working and now i just need this and its driving me insane. Im sure some of you feel my pain...

Well, having looked at your CSV file, you don't know what pain is yet LOL

Seriously, you're on the right track, matching up the columns you can with existing ones from a complete download of your existing store inventory, but, I'm afraid you are going to have to do a little more.

You are going to have the fields that DON'T exist yet to EP. There are several files that explain how to add new fields to EP (I think I searched on +new +fields). They don't, however, actually do it. It's a manual operation.

If you follow the instructions CAREFULLY, you'll be able to add the required new fields for the additional information.

You will also, of course, have to add any new fields to your database (again, manually, unless you are good at writing sql)

It took me an hour to add half a dozen new fields to EP 2.76c, two weeks to figure out why it didn't work (then someone who had had the same problem helped out), and 20 seconds to change 2 lines of code (to make allowances for my using PHP5 instead of PHP4). So, once you get the hang of adding the fields, it's pretty easy (just follow the example).

There is actually a support thread for EP in Contribution Support and you would probably do better to post any other stuff there.

Good luck and I hope this helps

oh god lol....

is there someone i can pay like 50$ to do it for me heh. sounds liek its out of my league... where can i find some helpers? ;/

I'm sorry, you're not talking loudly enough ($$$$$) LMAO

Actually, it's not as bad as it sounds. Take a look at the New Fields text file and you'll see it's well written and provides an example. It's written in pretty basic terms and the most you can do is generate an error.

It's not like you are going to blow your whole store off the server (well, not the WHOLE store anyway). Just kidding.
