Edit Weight Measure from Kilograms to Pounds & Ounces

Greetings,

I have searched the database for an answer and thought I'd post my question as I've come up empty. I recently updated my files and now my weight is measured in kilograms instead of pounds. I would like to change back to pounds. I also enter my weight in fractions of a pound using decimals. Could that be the problem?

Ideally, since most of my products are less than one pound I would like to enter the ounces not as a fraction but exact weight in ounces. where can I edit my files to reflect the pounds and ounces? Also will this effect my use of fractions via decimal points in the zones shipping module?

Thanks in advance.

Margot

Can anyone answer this???

Conversion Factors:

Kilogram <0.4535924> Pounds

Kilogram <0.028349525> Ounces

e.g.

2.6 Kgs : 2.6 / 0.4535924 = 5.7320184376986916006529209925034 Pounds

or 2.6 / 0.028349525 = 91.712295003179065610446735880054 Ounces

If you want to go the other way (Pounds or Ounces to Kgs) you multiply instead of divide

If you want pounds and ounces, simply divide by 0.028349525 and then 16 and carry the remainder as ounces:

2.6 / 0.028349525 = 91.712295003179065610446735880054 ounces then divide by 16 = 5 and the remainder is 11.7 So your weight in pounds and ounces = 5lbs. 12ozs (rounding up)

Hope that helps.

Steve

How do you input the ounces when inputting product weight? If I put 3.4 OZ, it changes to 3.40. When shipping is calculated throught USPS, I don't want it to read 3.4 pounds.

Thanks Steve.

The problem I have is that my selected location is USA, and my invoices show the weight in kilograms, not pounds. I don't see anyplace else where I can adjust this measurement except by location. I think there is a glitch because I can't find anyplace where I can show the weight in pounds.

okay. The answer to my problem was discovered in a bugs report by entering the word,"weight" in my search. A reply to the original problem queried a few years ago was dated 10/26/06. It led me to the following file where I changed the 'kg' to 'lb'.

includes/languages/english/modules/shipping

Thanks to iain (AT) globaldigitalassets (DOT) net. All's well that ends well. I hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.

4 oz is 1/4 lb or .25 so 3lb 4oz =4.25 lbs

I just made a chart to keep handy for when I'm entering product weight. One ounce is .0625 which I derived from dividing one by 16. .0625 x 4=.25
