is an SSL certificate really required

Hi Guys,

 

I have just completed my first oscommerce site and the only thing i have had major problems with is the SSL certificate.

 

I am just about to start another site but really wanted to know if an SSL certificate is really needed. The payment modules going to be used are paypal and one other i beleive.

 

Just wanted other opinions on this please.

As far as your payments are concerned then yes the likes of paypal will secure the info...However, some people may like to see the secured pages when adding their details as your customers...
