upgrading question

Good afternoon,

I am very new to all of this. I have been reading as many of the topics as possible. I am in the process of creating a website and have posted twice and followed the information givin.

 

Regarding updateing my version of oscommerce - would I go through my web service provider or right through the oscommerce adminstration section?

Updating is a manual process - first download the update package - then follow the instructions you will find in there (text file)

Not to sound completed dumb - but is this something that a I can do - keep in mind that I have NO really experience with working with a website - except what I have been currently doing on my site.

OK I am ready to upgrade. I downloaded the upgrade and read the information. Is there anything else I should do?

I did make a back up.
