synthman101 Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 I live in California and need the payment module\shopping cart to calculate sales tax in two ways: 1. If the Buyer's address is within California, Riverside county, the tax rate will need to be one rate. 2. If the Buyer's address is within the state of California, but outside Riverside county the tax rate will need to be another tax rate. Since my site will be 80% dropshipping, I need to try to make it as automated as I possiblly can. Any help will be extremely aprreciated. Thanks,Justin Quote
Autographs Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Hi Justin, Not that your wrong, but Here in Florida, Which is NOT California It's a little different and you may want to check to make sure before going to the trouble I'm in a county that has a 1% higher Tax Rate than many other countys (Thanks to Stadiums and things that us Tax payers pay for) In My Area the Rate is 7% most others are 6% We have only things that CAN happen. We sell out of state or Country NO SALES TAX If we sell anything in state it's SOLD in my county because I'm the one selling it So I have to collect MY County Sales Tax, even if I'm selling to another area with a lower or higher Tax. Let's say I sold something to a 6% county. I'm not sending that county that 6% for the sale. I'm sending my county my taxes collected. So As I said It may be Different there, but you may want to make sure Good Luck Greg Quote
synthman101 Posted November 19, 2006 Author Posted November 19, 2006 Greg, Thanks for the info. So basically what you are saying is... since your physical place of business is in a specific county, outside of this county is not relevant because everthing is being sold from your place of business (in county). Do you know how to setup the tax so it only show up for customers in state?? Thanks, Justin I live in California and need the payment module\shopping cart to calculate sales tax in two ways: 1. mikeinbigfork Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Hi, I have a client that has this same problem. The state that they are in charges sales tax and for customers within that state they need to charge tax. For customers out of state they do not need to charge tax. If there is a solution for this any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike Callaghan [email protected] Quote
brahms2 Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Sales tax in 89 Counties in Ohio Related to the question asked herein: The State of Ohio tax authorities imply that since I am selling from a warehouse (not my own retail location) in one county in the State of Ohio, I will have to charge each county to which I send a shipment a different rate. This adds up to 89 different tax rates. Manually entering them is a bit much for me. Is there not a module that allows these rates to be automatically added to an order? Thanks in advance for any comments or help, Ted Quote
