magicspon Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Hi, Been using oscommerce for a few weeks and have been impressed with its capabilities, been reading the forums quite alot and it seems you can do some smart things. I was wondering a few things about building templates for OS using the STS system. Would there be anything wrong building the site entirely using the WYSIWYG editor in dreamweaver. For instance the category buttons, would there be any problem if i built my own flash buttons and just linked them to the correct cPath. The reason i ask is because i'm about to build an oscommerce site which is heavy very flash orientated? Thanks dave
kgt Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 There's nothing wrong with it in that it will work fine. It's probably unwise without some careful consideration of how often you think you might be adding and deleting categories, etc. If you regularly add and delete categories, then you're looking at quite a bit of time having to manually change links, etc. If your categories are relatively static, then go for it. From a programming prospective, WYSIWYG editors are usually a nightmare. They tend to add extraneous formatting, especially when you add formatting and then change/remove it. It's a pain to wade through all the unneeded markup. If you're ever going to need to edit the code directly, it's often not the best choice. Contributions Discount Coupon Codes Donations
