Cache, should I?

Hi

My second OSC installation, v 2.2 MS2 (051113) installed automatically by Fantastico.

In the instructions it says I might get a cache error: Error: Cache directory does not exist. Please set this Configuration->Cache. I don't.

In admin, it says Use Cache: false.

Now I'm happy not to use a cache, it's not going to be a high traffic site and it's probably going to cause more problems than it's worth.

So my only question is: is running OSC without cache enabled OK, and what am I missing out on? I know what a cache is so I'm guessing it might speed up OSC's response to common queries .. am I missing out on anything else? Nothing in the manual explains the benefits of having cache enabled.

Cheers

J
