index.php issue

hello, our site is https://icecreamwarehouse.com/osCommerce/ca...cc7c9d55b617592

if u notice middle of page shows HEADING_TITLE, TEXT_MAIN, and TABLE_HEADING_NEW_PRODUCTS. if i modify the index.php file renaming those text to anything, it pretty much corrupts the whole site, looping pages.

can someone tell me how to get rid of those if possible, and is it possible to remove from mysqlphp dbase? or is this strictly a php problem? any help is great!! thanks!

Hi,

You edited the wrong page...

Insertion of text should be done in the catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php

Revert to the original install, (you did back up?) and then edit the file I have mentioned, and you'll be back in business so to speak.... Good Luck....

hi, yep i have tons of backups and ill investigate this /english/index.php file. thanks for the reply! will post results later! ** if i only modify the english/ sub, do i need to do it also on the spanish and dutch? thanks!

Those are defined in the languages files in includes/languages/english. If you're on the main page (index.php), the language file for that page is includes/languages/english/index.php. If you are missing that file or missing those definitions within the file, you will get that text.

When you edit that text, you are probably causing a parse error, not a corrupted file.

Then you have overwritten that file with a copy of your "code" file (the main index.php file).

It also looks like you used MS Word to edit it. I would recommend never doing so. Always use a plain text editor.

my main index.php file has tons of data and i could link it if someone wants to see it. that index.php file is located under oscommerce/catalog/index.php. i generally use just notepad to modify text, because of autoformat crap from wordpad and msWord. the index file i just posted was the one recommended editing by the first reply person.

This looks like the view source output from your browser. It's not the same thing.

The file catalog/index.php is likely not the problem. includes/languages/english/index.php is the file with which you have an issue, as I understand your original post.

i have looked thru my subfolders and things seem to be right, even though i hear they are not. is there anyone that can recommend a web-developer or company that can correct this? i have take too much time already combing through code and im not getting anywhere. any help appreciated!
