Directory Problems

Hello Everyone,

First, I'd like to say that the support here is great, I have overcome most issues and there are many with GoDaddy.com running Windows.

I have tried to go through the support portions of this site but now I'm not getting anywhere with a few issues. I have applied the Register_Globals patch from Vger and that helped a lot. I'm installing osCommerce 2.2MS2-060817

In 'Admin' when I go to Catalog a message indicates that the 'Images' directory is missing. When I go to the catalog all of the images appear just fine.

When I go to 'Modules' I cannot add any modules, just a message:

Module Directory: /Store/includes/modules/payment

When I click on +Install, nothing happens. I D/L the PayPal patch but no dice.

I also created the 'Backups' folder under 'Store/Admin' and Admin notifies me that the folder is missing. but I see: 'Backup Directory: /Store/admin/backups/' in the 'Tools/Database Backups' menu.

It seems that these problems are Configure.php related but I can't find the fixes.

Here is my Store/Admin/Includes Configure.php:

You need to set directory permissions on both directories - they should be set to 777

You can do this through you web hosting control panel file manager, or, some servers will allow you to do it using your FTP client (right click menu)

Thanks Sonia,

I'll give it a try. Your last suggestion worked out well. Where can I go to understand what 777, 644 and all that means? Also, I don't believe GoDaddy has a way doing that. I've looked in my cpanel and all I can do is create dirs and apply READ; WEB, BROWSE and WRITE permissions.

I'm new to this world of site building. Is there a recommended book? So far I've used 'Teach yourself HTML 4 in 24 Hours' and 'FrontPage 2000 Developers Guide'. It looks like I need a crash course in PHP?

Any advice would be most welcomed.
