rj122458 Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 I am having problems accessing files in file manager. I keep getting Error: I can not write to this file. Please set the right user permissions on: any file It happens under /var/www/html/catalog/ and any DIR under it. The only way I'm able to access a file is to set the rights on a file to rwxr-xrw- or what ever the files rights are and adding the w to it for others in the last 3 rights. I don't think that is probably the right thing to do for security reasons, but what else can I do to gain access through file manager?
♥Vger Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 You don't want to use the File Manager to edit files, or it will cause problems for you. Download the files via FTP, edit in a plain text editor like Notepad, and then upload again via FTP. Vger
