Weird problem with define code in language.php

define('PRINT_FRIENDLY_PAGE_NOW', 'Imprimer maintenant');
define('PRINT_FRIENDLY_PAGE_CLOSE', 'Fermez cette fen?tre');
// EOF Printer Friendly Product Info Page

 

I have encountered a strange problem when defining "PRINTER_FRIENDLY_PAGE" in french.php, italian.php and german.php. Basically the phrase stays in English, it doesn't switch to the other language.

Anyone know why this might be happening?
