If an item is sold out.......

Hello,

 

currently with the standard install of the oscomerce site, if an item in the catalog is not in stock, i.e the stock level is set at 0, the item is not displayed on the website in the catagory section.

 

Can someone advise me on how i can change the " add to cart " button to an image that will display " out of stock ".

 

or

 

a more simple idea would be to show the product in the catalog but make it so you can not add it to the cart.

 

Any help or advise would be good.

To to Admin > Configuration > Stock and set "Allow Checkout" to false.
