I need to add a new field in database to add product

Hi there

 

I have added a new field in the my database under products. This is called prodcode.

 

Each time I add a new product I have to go into my database by using phpmyadmin and manually find the records and input the prodcode.

 

I really would like to be able to enter this using the add new product page in admin. Im sure it is simple to add a field here but can someone advise? If i then wanted this field to show on my product info page would this be easy as well ?

First is there a difference between "procode" and "model" and can't you use that?
