I am very new to oscommerce and I have only used predesigned sites to build my sites in the past. I have been reading for a few days here but still kind of confused. Please help me out.

1. I have downloaded the software, now:

a. What is a good hosting site? I have used Godaddy for years, so do I sign up for their virtual dedicated server program, or a hosting plan? Or an Ftp server?

In actually this first step is the one that has me confused the most. Once I get past what I am supposed to do and where to actually put the program, then I can go from there.

This may seem like a silly question to a few, but please help me out:)

Always grateful for any help received!!

Godaddy is the best first choice for hosting an oscommerce shop but it will work. Just be sure to get on their Linux server.
