Site Name & SSL conflict

Recommended Posts

My SSL Cert is issued to www.swingjacket.com. When people go to my shopping cart there is no problem. When they click on my main product they get an error message that:

Security Error: Domain Name Mismatch

the site name that is presumably coming from OSComm does not incl the www. so the browser puts up this error message.

I have wandered all over my OS Comm pages but do not see where the error is. How do I add the www. to the site name that is 'seen' by the browser so this error goes away?

Thank you for your help!

Bill

First place to look at is the two configure.php files.

Thanks for your suggestion Ken. I have spent the last few days searching for the solution. To no avail.

I have scoured the configure.php files on my site and can see no ref to the sitename without the www. lead-in. I've ground thru pages of info on this site and still have the same issue. I am not a programmer and can't spell "code" so some of this stuff is foreign to me.

Where does a browser 'get' the name of the site when the page is loading? I have not seen any ref to my site in any of the template files (header, footer, left col etc.) The meta tags do not show any ref to the site without teh www. prefix. If you view the source for the page

https://www.swingjacket.com/product_info.php?products_id=33

there is no ref to the site without the www.

Any ideas how I get rid of the security warning saying my cert does not match my page name???

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

...there is no ref to the site without the www.

The simple answer is: the two images (tourmodelsystem.jpg etc) on the right refer to swingjacket.com w/o www.

Other problems of your site (IMHO): there's no need to SSL-protect your whole site; If you take away the 's' from https:// from the product_info page, then the problem will go away; Your site is in need of a professional make over: the menu system; the layout etc.

If you need to add the www. set up a 303 redirect from your root htaccess file.

Shut UP! It can't be this freeeeekin simple to solve the problem. I am feelin' like a total doornob not being able to figger that out DUH!!. Thanks a lot Ken.

I am in complete agreement that the site needs a makeover. The fellow that built it had good intentions but no real world experience (which I learned after the fact). He built the whole site in the https folder because he thought we should have the shopping cart avail on every page. Would have been cool if we had 1,000's of products like Amazon but silly when we only have a handlful. I have been migrating content to the non 's' side of the site and would love to adopt a more simple shopping cart technology. We need a very straighforward engine with a min of steps and really simple for our customers.

Any thoughts on the best technology (does OS Comm have a simple engine?), who could bolt it on for me and what would the cost be and how much customizing would be needed??? You can contact me at my direct e-mail at [email protected]

Again my thanks for the tip
