You may not need it but it is your customers who need it (SSL) to protect their personal info while transmitting via the internet. So if you care about your customers, then you better have it in place. ♥Vger Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Why should anyone trust you with their personals details if you can't be bothered to spend the very small amount of money needed to make your site secure? Vger
jesma Posted November 4, 2006 Author Posted November 4, 2006 Thanks for the replies guys. I has actually bought it just before I posted this question, but then thought if I'm going to use someone lioke WorldPay to make the payments, I thought I may of wasted my money! I have now got the SSL working with OSc, with the padlock appearing on the secure pages of my store, and in the admin main page is says the store is now secure, but it's exact words are: "You are protected by a unknown secure SSL connection". Is there a reason why it says unknown or is this how it should be? Is this anything to worry about?
GemRock Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 That could be an indication of shared SSL being using on your site, a mis-match of the domain (e.g., your hosting company or one of their servers) the certificate is issued to, and the domain (e.g., your site) that is using it. This is not a concern for a shared SSL. If you do own th eSSL certificate, then there's somehting wrong with the setup.
