triplemaya
I have a new install of oscommerce. There is a main section with products, the title is New Products for Novemeber. I cannot find how to interact with this box. None of the files in ~/includes seems to be relevant. I have searched the admin pages. Docs refer to left columb and right columb boxes, but no mention of this central box. I've googled and searched the forums, but I don't know what I'm looking for. When I look at the source for the page this box seems to be grenerated by a section called 'new products', but I can't find anywhere in the admin to interact with this section of the site. I'm sorry, this must be a stupid question, but I've tried all I know to do and I'm still stuck. Help gratefully accepted.
dynamoeffects
Don't worry, that part's not very intuitive, so it's not a stupid question. But why don't you start with what it is that you're trying to do and we'll go from there. Please use the forums for support! I am happy to help you here, but I am unable to offer free technical support over instant messenger or e-mail.
abra123cadabra
The file you are looking for is /catalog/includes/modules/new_products.php. The contents of this box is generated automatically. It displays the last x products you added to your catalog in descending order. The number to be displayed is set in your admin panel -> Configuration -> Maximum Values -> New Products Module. abra The First Law of E-Commerce: If the user can't find the product, the user can't buy the product. Feedback and suggestions on my shop welcome. Note: My advice is based on my own experience or on something I read in these forums. No guarantee it'll work for you! Make sure that you always BACKUP the database and the files you are going to change so that you can rollback to a working version if things go wrong. triplemaya
Thank you both very much for your time. One of the things I wanted to do was to set the number of items, so that was spot on. The other things I wanted to do were enable / disable it, put things in there other than the latest addition to the product line, alter the heading, change the background, and if possible have it be there without a box around it. ( I thought there must be a section in the configuration which would be to do with this box, or doing these kinds of things to a box. ) Cheers
