Seo Jon Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Hello, Here's the situation. I have a site that is a static site. I'm ranking well on most of my pages. I would like to make my site more dynamic, but I don't want my pages to loose rank because I would have to change them from example.html to example.php. Is it possible to go dynamic with the site, but keep the page named example.html, example.html? I like OScommerce so I would probably like to use OScommerce as the shopping cart for the site. Is it possible getting the above results with OScommerce? What contributions would I need to install to make this happen?
Jack_mcs Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 It is possible but not necessary. You would need to install the Ultimate SEO contribution so that your product url's are converted but it won't make any difference at all to the SE's if the regular pages end in html or php. You can add a line in the .htaccess file once Ultimate SEO is installed to change them, but it would be a waste of time. Since rankings will suffer a little for any such change though, you would need to put in 301 permanent redirects for those pages.
