can oscommerce connect to an existing html site

I am new to oscommerce and want to keep my website, can i just link the buttons and shopping cart to my existing html site, and can someone show me examples to do so?thxs

You just need to add one link to your html page that goes to your oscommerce shop. You can add other links to various pages if you like but they are not required. The shop won't function properly if visitors switch between your html page and the shop since the session ID that oscommerce uses will be lost, but a lot of shops run this way and don't see it as a problem.
