The index page is very confusing to me. I have made some mods but, cant seem to find the right bit of code to change to customize some things.

 

 

I would like to be able to display my top level categories in two column on the main index page. similar to how they are displayed on the sub category page, but improved.

 

Here is my current cart

www.jowgakungfu.net/catalog currently, nothing is on main index page except the welcome statement and a couple of new products. I would like the categories to be displayed between the welcome statement and the "specials"

 

here is an example, I would like it to look and function like this

 

www.jowgakungfu.com/index2 (although this is incomplete because I stop developing it in interchange and decided to switch to osc, the functionality is what I want)

 

any suggestions to get me started in the right direction,
